Kokum Juice - One Of the Must-Drink Juices In Goa

In December 2018 we went on a trip to Goa for a short stay. We took the early morning flight from Hyderabad and landed in Goa by 7.40 a.m. We took the Kadamba Transport bus from Goa Airport which starts at 10.20 a.m, to Calangute. From here we took auto to Candolim where we booked an accommodation in one of the ITC hotels. Goa is a coastal state in the western edge of India and the mostly the climate is warm. It was around 11 a.m by the time we reached our hotel in a warm day in December. Kajjikayalu - The Crescent Shaped Sweet of the Telugu People

A tourist to the Telugu-speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana can try out these light and crispy crescent shaped special sweet of Andhra Pradesh / Telangana, called Kajjikayalu. This is a traditional sweet item of Andhra Pradesh / Telangana and is available in almost all the sweet shops / home foods. This sweet is very much similar to 'karanji' - a sweet of Maharashtra. It is even available in other Indian states but is known in different / local names. Kajjikayalu is one of the must-eat sweet item which is crispy and delicious. Putarekulu - Special sweet of Andhra Pradesh

Pootarekulu are the special sweet of Andhra Pradesh. Basically this is a sweet made in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. A small village named 'Atreyapuram' in the East Godavari district has gained popularity for this sweet making. A majority of the population in the village is engaged in the making of 'pootarekulu'. The moment you step into this village, your taste buds get tickled / stimulated on smelling the sweet aroma of ghee. The Telugu word 'poota' literally means 'a layer' and the word 'reku' means 'a sheet'. As the name says 'putarekulu' are made of layers of ultra thin and crispy sheets made of rice flour. Traditionally these layers are sandwiched with ghee and finely powdered sugar. There are variations where finely powdered jaggery is used instead of sugar. Dhanur Muvva - A unique lesser known sweet of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh

Well, I think most of you are unaware of this unique sweet called Dhanur Muvva except for the people of Southern Odisha and the people of North coastal Andhra Pradesh. The uniqueness of the sweet is that it is prepared at the time of Dhanur Sankramanam i.e when Sun transits to Dhanur Raasi (Sagittarius) on Dec 15 / 16.
