Visit To Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and Durbar Square in Kathmandu, Nepal

About Kathmandu Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal. It is located in the Kathmandu valley in the Himalayan hill region. Besides the city of Kathmandu, the other towns in the valley are Bhaktapur, Thimi, Lalitpur, Madhyapur and Kirtipur. Bodhnath is the holiest Tibetan Buddhist temple and is the centre of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu. This is the largest Stupa in Nepal and one of the largest Stupas in the world. This centuries old stupa is located in Boudha town. The temple has become an important Tibetan Buddhist centre when thousands of Tibetans came to Nepal after the Chinese invasion. It is one of the main attractions of Kathmandu. It was a pleasant sunny day, so we walked around the large stupa. A Holy Visit to Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal

After an enchanting road trip from Raxaul to Kathmandu we reached the hotel where we booked accommodation, in the evening. As it was an 8 hours road trip we had dinner and went to bed early. It was the month of October and the weather was cool. Our Day 1 itinerary included a visit to the famous Pashupatinath temple. An Enchanting Himalayan Ghat Road Trip from Raxaul to Kathmandu, Nepal

It was in October 2006 that we had been to Kathmandu on an excursion. Our trip was from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh to Kolkata by train. We halted for few hours in the morning in Kolkata and just visited Victoria Memorial. In the afternoon we took the train bound to Raxaul, Bihar. We reached the place in the morning and immediately took tongas from Raxaul station to Birganj, Nepal crossing the Ind-Nepal border. It's hardly 10 minutes ride from Raxaul to Birganj. On reaching Birganj in Nepal, we refreshed and started our onward journey to Kathmandu in luxury bus. The nearly 8 hours ride from Birganj to Kathmandu was a memorable one. A road trip to Kathmandu from Raxaul in Bihar is an enchanting one. Raxaul in Bihar and Birgunj in Nepal are the main Indo-Nepal border crossing points. Mainly the trucks moving between the two countries are thoroughly check at these crossing points. In October 2006 we went on an excursion to Kathmandu. It was a road trip from Raxaul to Kathamandu and we reached Kathmandu in the evening. In the morning on Day 1 we visited the famous Pashupatinath temple where we spent sometime in the divinely atmosphere and then proceeded to Budhanilakantha Temple which is yet another important Hindu temple in Kathmandu.
