Marina beach in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, is the longest beach in India and the second longest beach in the world. Chennai is one of the four major metros of India. It is located in the south east coast of Peninsular India. The climate here is hot and humid through out the year and experiences retreating monsoon in October-November. Marina beach is situated at Kamaraj Salai Road and is at a distance of 3 Km from the city on the North Beach Road. The beach is mainly sandy and visitors have to walk long way to reach the sea. The 12 Km stretch of beach extends from Fort St George in the north to in the south and is easily reachable. During our Tamil Nadu trip in October 2018, had a 2-day stay in Chennai. Our Day 1 trip included a divinely visit to Kapaleeshwar temple in Mylapore and Parathasarathy temple in Triplicane. In October 2018 during Dussehra Navaratri we went on a family trip to Tamil Nadu. It was a morning flight which took off from Hyderabad airport at around 7.30 a.m. We reached Chennai at around 10 a.m and it was almost 11 a.m by the time we reached Quality Inn Airport where we had our pre-booked room. In the evening of Day 1 of our trip first we went to Kapaleeshwarar temple in Mylapore. As it was Dussehra festival time, the temple was decorated with lighting and was heavily crowded with devotees. The street leading to the temple was jam packed with traffic and with roadside vendors on either side of the street. The giant Gopuram (entrance tower) of the temple is in typical Dravidian style architecture. It is very spacious inside the temple premises and during our visit at the time of Dussehra Navaratri, the entire temple was illuminated in lighting which gave a festive look. We took the morning flight from Hyderabad and the landing at Chennai airport was at around 10.30 a.m. We proceeded to Quality Inn Airport hotel where we pre-booked an accommodation and went to one of our relative's house for lunch. After having darshan, we proceeded to Parthasarathy temple in Tripliane. This is an ancient temple located in Triplicane, Chennai. Triplicane was originally known as Tiruvallikeni. This is a busy area in the heart of the city and is well connected with different areas of Chennai. Triplicane and Mylapore are historically much older regions than Chennai.
