A Ride from Omkareshwara Temple To Abbi Falls in Madikeri, Coorg Region of Karnataka

Madikeri aka Mercara is one of the beautiful hill stations in the Coorg district of Karnataka. This hill station is cool, serene, clean and unpolluted and is full of tourist attractions. When summer is peak in other parts of the country, the weather in this small hill station is enjoyable. We (self and husband) had been to Madikeri in May 2008. It's more than a decade yet I enjoy a stroll down the memory lane in summer. We stayed in a pre-booked home stay where we had a comfortable home-like stay. On Day 1, we visited the unique temple of Omkareshwara to offer our morning prayers. From here we took a cab to Abbi Falls aka Abbey Falls which is one of the top tourist attraction in Madikeri. Abbi falls is hardly 10 Km away from the main town of Madikeri. From the main town, the cab drove on the Galibeedu Rd which is narrow with steep ups and downs and twists and turns. All along the drive we enjoyed the greenery, rich foliage and of course the stimulating aroma of Coorg coffee pla...

A Relaxing Summer Evening at Raja's Seat in Madikeri, Coorg Region of Karnataka

In May 2008 we (self and spouse) had been to Madikeri. It was a flight journey from Hyderabad to Bengaluru and we took KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) bus from Bengaluru to Madikeri. We reached our destination in the evening at around 7.00. The moment we stepped down from the bus we enjoyed the cool unpolluted breeze and I was wondering how hot it would be in other places in May. We booked a home stay in advance. So straight away we went to the home stay and refreshed ourselves. Just had a night walk in the serene atmosphere. The home stay where we stayed is actually a portion in the upstairs of the landlord's (owner's) house which is converted into a home stay for visitors / tourists during their short stay. The owner of the home stay was very friendly and hospitable. They provided us almost everything including vessels and gas cylinder for cooking. The comforts at this home stay gave us a real homely atmosphere. As a sound sleep in the night, the next day m...

Madikeri aka Mercara is one of the beautiful hill stations located in the Coorg / Kodagu district of Karnataka. The hill station is in the lap of Mother Nature in the Western ghats of Karnataka and is popularly known as the 'Scotland of India'. As I was strolling down the memory lane, I recollected our (self and husband) visit to Madikeri in May 2008. We took flight from Hyderabad to Bengaluru and then from Bengaluru we took the State Road Transport bus to reach Madikeri. We reached this beautiful, cool and serene hill station at around 7 p.m and I was really surprised and of course enjoyed the cool unpolluted breeze in May and wondered how hot it would be in other parts of the country! It was very soothing and there was much peace of mind in this place which is far far away from the maddening c...
