During our one-day trip to Mysuru on 17th Dec 2023 our first stop was at Srirangapatna. As it was Dhanur Masam we visited Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple and had the divine darshan of Sri Ranganatha Swamy and Sri Ranganayaki. From here we stopped at a local hotel and had light food as it was around 2 p.m. Our next visit was to Sri Chamundeshwari temple and felt blessed to have the darshan of Sri Chamundi Devi. We then rushed to Mysore Maharaja Palace and reached the place at around 4.30 p.m. Hardly one hour time was left with us to see inside the Royal Palace as the visitors are not allowed to stay inside the Palace after 6 p.m. We had a wonderful experience at Mysore Maharaja Palace . One of the cherished moments during our 5-day trip to Bengaluru was a day trip to Mysuru. Our first stop was at Sri Ranganatha Swamy, Srirangapatna which was on the way to Mysuru. During our 5-day trip to Bengaluru in Dec, 2023, we were blessed to visit Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple in Srirangapatna which is one of the most important temple of Pancharanga Kshetrams. On Dec 17, 2023 after spending some time in the divine atmosphere we headed to Chamundi temple in Mysuru. It was a Sunday and we didn't know that Chamundi temple will remain open for darshans due to heavy rush of devotees specially Ayyappas . By the time we reached Mysuru it was around 2 p.m and when searched on Google it showed that the temple will be closed by 2 p.m and will reopen at 3.30 p.m. So we had lunch in an ordinary roadside hotel which was heavily crowded. Somehow we managed to finish lunch and reached the temple by 3 p.m. We took the darshan tickets and rushed to the line thinking that we can finish darshan fast. In Dec 2023, we went on a 5-day trip to Bengaluru. It was the first time we traveled in Vande Bharat Express from Kacheguda Rly station in Hyderabad to Yeshvantpur Rly station in Bengaluru. It was a good experience travelling in Vande Bharat express. We stayed in a decent hotel near IIM, Bengaluru. We reached Bengaluru on Dec 15, 2023 and spent the evening by strolling around the serene locality. On Day 2 evening we visited Meenakshi temple and spent the night in Meenakshi Mall. On Day 3 i.e. on Dec 17th 2023 we planned a day trip to Mysuru. We booked a round-the-trip cab from Bengaluru - Srirangapatna-Mysuru and back to Bengaluru. We started from our hotel at around 9 a.m and had a pleasant drive to Sri Rangapatna on the express way. About Gokarna Gokarna also known as Srikshetra, is a small temple town located on the west coast of North Karnataka. It is at a distance of about 60 Km from Karwar and it is one of the most important pilgrim places for Hindus. It is a small and peaceful town with full of divine vibes and tranquil atmosphere. The nearest Railway Station is Gokarna Road on the Konkan Railway. There are good number of auto-rickshaws available at the station. They charge around Rs.250/- or Rs.300/- (subject to change) from railway station to the town. Many buses also ply from Mangalore and Mumbai which halt at Kumta village. From here one has to take a cab / auto-rickshaw to Gokarna which costs around Rs.200/- or Rs.250/- (subject to change). However, it is very difficult to get one from this place. Madikeri aka Mercara is one of the beautiful hill stations in the Coorg district of Karnataka. This hill station is cool, serene, clean and unpolluted and is full of tourist attractions. When summer is peak in other parts of the country, the weather in this small hill station is enjoyable. We (self and husband) had been to Madikeri in May 2008. It's more than a decade yet I enjoy a stroll down the memory lane in summer. We stayed in a pre-booked home stay where we had a comfortable home-like stay. On Day 1, we visited the unique temple of Omkareshwara to offer our morning prayers. From here we took a cab to Abbi Falls aka Abbey Falls which is one of the top tourist attraction in Madikeri. In May 2008 we (self and spouse) had been to Madikeri. It was a flight journey from Hyderabad to Bengaluru and we took KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) bus from Bengaluru to Madikeri. We reached our destination in the evening at around 7.00. The moment we stepped down from the bus we enjoyed the cool unpolluted breeze and I was wondering how hot it would be in other places in May. We booked a home stay in advance. So straight away we went to the home stay and refreshed ourselves. Just had a night walk in the serene atmosphere. The home stay where we stayed is actually a portion in the upstairs of the landlord's (owner's) house which is converted into a home stay for visitors / tourists during their short stay. The owner of the home stay was very friendly and hospitable. They provided us almost everything including vessels and gas cylinder for cooking. Madikeri which is also known as Mercara is a small yet beautiful cool hill station. This place is located in the lap of Mother Nature in the Western Ghats in Karnataka. This place is popularly known as the 'Scotland of India'. It is the headquarters of Coorg district in Karnataka. The moment you step down from the vehicle, you feel cool and will be enchanted at the beauty of the mist-clad hills, lush emerald green forests, vast stretch of coffee plantations and the breath-taking views. It was in November 2008 when we (three families) went on a road trip from Hyderabad to Jhira Narasimha Swamy temple in Bidar, Karnataka via Zaheerabad. We started early in the morning in our own vehicles from Hyderabad for a pleasant and enjoyable ride. At around 7.30 a.m the men folk halted at a small roadside dhaba for refreshing themselves with a hot sip of tea. There are good number of dhabas / local chai / coffee and tiffin stalls all along the way. Our road trip was via Sangareddy and Zaheerabad on the state highway. After driving for few hours we took a break at around 9 a.m after halting our vehicles on the road side. As we were riding on the state highway, we could see travelers taking halt on the roadside for a refreshment. There was open space beside the highway where we spread the table-clothes and had home-made puris with curry and tamarind rice / pulihora. Jharani Narasimha Swamy temple is located in Bidar, Karnataka. The temple is also known as Jhira Narasimha Swamy temple or the Water Cave temple. It is one of its kind and very unique as the temple is located inside a cave that is full of flowing water up to the shoulder level of an adult person. Hence it is also known by the name Water Cave temple. Jharani Narasimha Swamy is easily reachable from Hyderabad by road via Zaheerabad. Bidar is easily reachable from other important places in Karnataka. There are good number of State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) buses and also private buses from various places in Karnataka to Bidar. However road trip to the temple is quite enjoyable.
