An Enchanting Road Trip from Rishikesh to Mussoorie, Uttarakhand

Our Day 1 trip to Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on 23 April 2023 included our flight journey from Hyderabad to Delhi and car drive from Delhi to Haridwar. We spent the evening at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar and reached Rishikesh at around 10 p.m. On Day 2 we went to Triveni Ghat in the morning and spent the day on sight seeing in Rishikesh and had an enhanting road trip from Rushikesh to Mussoorie.

The next stay in our Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh trip planner was Mussoorie which is one of the most beautiful hill stations in Uttarakhand and also in the north.

Day 2 of our tour - Rishikesh to Mussoorie Road Trip

As soon as we left Rishikesh which is at the foothills of Himalayas our car slowly started ascending the Himalayan ghat road. The curvy twisty roads on the ghat road and the sight of tall trees on one side of the road was enchanting.
As we were riding up and up on the ghat road the weather was getting cooler and cooler. We being nature lovers, were totally engrossed in enjoying the Himalayan beauty. Our car crossed one town after the other and moved ahead.
Finally we reached the outskirts of Dehradun, the most beautiful city with a pleasant weather. I think the time was around 5.30 p.m when we stopped at a roadside dhaba for food. We didn't have lunch in the morning as we were busy with sight-seeing in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. The food served at this Mukhiya dhaba was good and we also relished hot Kulhad (earthen cup) chai in the chill weather seeing and enjoying the beauty of Himalayan mountains from the glass window of the dhaba.
We completely forgot ourselves in the lap of Mother Nature and we didn't even know how much time we spent at this place. We tried to capture the beauty of our mother in our mobiles but her beauty in reality is boundless than what we see in the snaps. Such is the beauty of Mother Nature.
After refreshing with hot chai in the lap of Mother Nature we continued our drive. On the way there is a small shrine of Shiva and a shop selling local products including precious gems, rudrakshas etc. We stopped at this place and offered abhishekam with water to Shiva.
It was a big Sphatika Lingam with a copper serpant twined. After spending some time in the divinely ambiance and doing little purchase in the shop, we continued our drive on the ghat road. It was already sunset time and the Himalayan beauty doubled with the reddish western skies with the sun setting behind the tall Himalayan mountains. We couldn't resist ourselves on seeing the nature at her best so we immediately got down at a view point and took some clicks of this marvellous dusky view of nature.
All along the ghat road we could see dhabas and also good hotels with beautiful view points. But there were no many customers in these dhabas and hotels. If not for tourists like us, who else can improve the economy of these beautiful spots. With such a thought we stopped at one of the roadside dhaba. I couldn't stop myself from admiring the endless beauty of nature with curvy ghat roads on the steep mountains and the deep valley with Dehradun view on the other side. In simple words it's a real feast to the eyes for nature lovers and others too.
The weather started becoming chill as the sun was setting. We took our woollen jackets and on wearing them I imagined how hot the weather would be in April in South India and thought, "O! what is this nature!(keeping the Geographical zones and the temperature difference part aside).

After enjoying every second of the ride on the Himalayan ghats with breathtaking and enchanting mountains, steep valleys, towns and villages in the valleys on the the slopes of mountains and the sunset view which was the best part of the journey, we reached our destination. Yes! Mussoorie at around 7 p.m. and checked into the hotel which was simply superb. A beautiful hotel with excellent service and breathtaking valley view of Dehradun city.
