Details of various Sevas and Darshans in Tirumala

Tirumala - the abode of Lord Venkateswara is popularly known as 'Kaliyuga Vaikuntham'. Thousands of pilgrims visit the temple which peaks during festive times, vacation times and during annual Brahmotsavam.

Pilgrims can book the tickets for the available darshans at the single window counter opposite to CRO (Central Reception Office) at Tirumala. To avoid long lines, pilgrims can also make online bookings for different sevas / dasrshans well in advance through TTD's (ttdsevaonline.com) official website. Register with a valid e-mail id to get the registration activation link for verification and activation. You can also complete verification through OTP (one time password) sent to your registered mobile.

You can also book the tickets at e-darshan counters in TTD Kalyana Mandapams in your place / city.

In view of helping the pilgrims / devotees of Lord Venkateswara, I have provided the details of sevas and darshans at Tirumala.

Various Darshans at Tirumala

  1. Sarva Darsanam

    This is the free darshan and pilgrims wait in the compartments of Vaikuntham Queue Complex II. The timings for 'sarvadarsanam' keep changing from day to day depending on the crowd. Pilgrims wait in the spacious inter-connected halls that lead to the main temple. People from the weaker section of the society go for this darshan. The halls are jam packed by pilgrims during special occasions.

    The pilgrims waiting in the halls can watch devotional programs shown in the large close circuit televisions. There are reasonably maintained toilets and drinking water facility in the complex for the waiting pilgrims. Drinks like milk, coffee, tea and 'annaprasadam' i.e food packets are provided free of cost to the waiting pilgrims by the TTD.
  2. Special Entry Darshan / 'Seeghra Darshan'

    This was introduced in 2009 to facilitate the pilgrims to have relatively quick darshan of Lord Venkateswara Swamy. Depending on the availability, pilgrims can book tickets for the current day 3 hours prior to the darshan slot. You can also book tickets online well in advance through ttdsevaonline.com or book the tickets at e-darshan counters at TTD Kalyana Mandapam in your place / city. You can also get the tickets at Indian Post Offices.

    Useful Information
    • 'Seeghra Darshan' tickets are also issued at Srinivasam on all days of the week depending on the rush of pilgrims.
    • Cost of ticket - Rs.300/- per person.
    • Maximum no. of people allowed per ticket - 10.
    • No of Laddu prasadams per ticket - 2.
    • Take the printout of the online ticket and produce the same photo id proof that you have used for online booking while verification / checking at the temple.
    • Children below 12 years have free entry. You have to produce age proof for children.
    • Cancellation of tickets are not allowed. Once you book the tickets, you cannot pre or postpone the date / time of your darshan.
    • Time slots for the darshan - 10 a.m, 11 a.m, 12 noon, 1 p.m, 2 p.m, 3 p.m, 4 p.m.
    • Dress Code - Dhoti-upper or kurta for gents and saris / salwar kameez for ladies.
    • Carrying mobiles, cams, video cams and other electronic gadgets are strictly not allowed.
  3. Divya Darshan

    Pilgrims who Tirumala steps either through Alipiri or Srivari Mettu are allowed to have Divya Darshan. TTD has provided many facilities free of cost for the pilgrims who climb Tirumala Hills. TTD buses from Tirupati RS (Railway Station) to Alipiri or Srivari Mettu. Deposit your luggage with lock at the luggage counter at the foot hill of Alipiri and get the receipt. On reaching Tirumala, you can collect your luggage after showing the receipt. The luggage room is at the entrance on the main road the way to CRO.

    Divya Darshan tokens are available at the 'Galigopuram' footpath, round the clock. And from 5.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m at Srivari Mettu footpath. There is no limit for Divya Darshan tickets.

    Free accommodation at PAC (Pilgrim Amenities Complex), free tonsuring, free darshan and free bhojan (meals) at Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Annaprasada Bhavan.
  4. Special Darshan for the Aged and Physically Disabled Persons

    Seniors citizens above 65 years and physically disabled persons are allowed for this special darshan through a separate entrance gate at the Dakshina Mada Veedhi (street). Daily there are two slots, at 10 a.m and 3 p.m. Pilgrims should report at this gate 2 hours before their time slot. Senior citizens should produce their age proof id-card and physically challenged people should produce the relevant medical certificate. Pilgrims who availed this special darshan cannot avail it again till 90 days.

Various Seva Darshans at Tirumala

After each daily / weekly Seva to Lord Venkateswara, pilgrims are allowed to have Seva Darshan on purchase of tickets. Depending on the availability tickets can be booked at the Single Window Counter opposite to CRO in Tirumala, book tickets online or at e-darshan counters in your place / city.

Arjitha Sevas include daily seva darshans, weekly seva darshans and periodical seva darshans.
  1. Suprabhata Seva Darshan

    Suprabhatam is the divine chanting of 'Kausalya Supraja Rama' to wake up Lord Venkateswara from His celestial sleep.

    General Info
    • Ticket price - Rs.120/- per person.
    • No. of Laddu Prasadams per ticket - 2 small laddus
    • Reporting time - 2 a.m (early hours)
    • Days of Seva Darshan - Sun through Sat i.e all the 7 days of the week.
    • Not performed in from mid-December to mid-Jan.
  2. Kalyanotsava Seva Darsanam

    This is one hour celestial wedding ritual which is performed to Utsava Vigrahalu (Procession Deities) - Sridevi Bhudevi sahit Malayappa Swamy - at 12 noon in the Kalyana Mandapam. This event is aired live in SVBC - TTD channel.

    • Ticket price - Rs.1000/- per couple (two persons)
    • Prasadam / Bahumanam - 2 big laddus, 2 vadas, 5 small laddus, 1 art silk upper wear / 1 blouse piece.
    • Day - All the 7 days of the week.
    • Reporting time - 11.00 a.m
    • Seva time - 12 noon
  3. Unjala Seva / Dolotsavam

    The Tamil word 'unjala' means 'swing'. In this seva Malayappa Swamy along with Sridevi and Bhoodevi is seated in a beautifully decorated swing. This is performed in the 'Addala Mandapam' i.e the 'Mirror Hall' opposite to 'Ranganayaka Mandapam'. It is also known as 'Dolotsavam'.

  4. Vasanthotsavam

    In this is an annual seva, 'punyavachanam' (purification) and 'samproksham' (sprinkling of holy water) is done to 'Utsava Vigrahalu' (Festival Deities) i.e Sridevi. Bhoodevi sahit Malayappa Swamy. These are then draped in 'dhawala vastralu' i.e white clothes and are seated on 'abhisheka peetham'.

  5. Sahasra Deepalankarana Seva

    Sahasra Deepalankarana Seva is performed in the 'Unjala Mandapam' / 'Addala Mandapam'. The Mandapam is beautifully illuminated / decorated with thousand oil lit lamps.

    • Day - Mon through Sunday - all the 7 days of the week.
    • Seva time - 5.30 p.m to 6.30 p.m
  6. Thomala Seva Darshan

    Suprabhata Seva is followed by Thomala Seva i.e decorating Lord Venkateswara with fresh flower garlands and Tulasi (Holy Basil) garland.

  7. Archana

    Thomala Seva is followed by 'archana' also known as 'sahasranamarchana'. In this seva, the 'sahasranamalu' i.e 1008 names of Lord Venkateswara are recited in a rhythmic way.

  8. Visesha Pooja

    Chaturdasa Kalasa Visesha pooja is performed on Mondays to the 'utsava vigrahalu' i.e festival deities in the mandapa. Abhishekam is performed with 14 kalasas / vessels, out of these 7 vessels contain gingerly oil, milk, curd, ghee, akshata (sacred yellow rice grains), darbha (grass) and panchagavya. And the remaining 7 vessels contain 'sudhodaka' i.e pure water.

  9. Ashtadala Paada Padmaradhana

    Puja is performed to the holy lotus feet of Lord Venkateswara (mula virat i.e main deity) by offering gold lotuses chanting His 108 names.

  10. Sahasra Kalasabhishekam

    Abhishekam (pouring of sacred water) is performed to Sri Bhoga Srinivasa Murti i.e a silver replica of Mula Virat in the Bangaru Vakili. 1008 silver vessels filled with 'abhisheka teertham' also known as 'Parimala Teertham' i.e sacred water in which sandalwood paste is mixed, 8 more 'parivara' vessels and 1 gold vessel filled with water, are used to perform abhishekam. The priests recite 'pancha suktam' and 'pancha santi' mantras during the 'abhishekam'.

    • Prasadam / Bahumanam - 1 big laddu, 1 vada, 2 appams, 2 dosas, 1 art silk upper wear or blouse piece, pulihora (tamarind rice), chakkara pongali (sweet pongal) and payasam (kheer).

    • Reporting time - 5.00 a.m
    • Seva time - 6.00 a.m
  11. Tiruppavada Seva

    This seva is performed on Thursdays when the Mula Virat (main deity) is draped with only dhoti (mostly white) and uttariyam without any flowers and ornaments. For this seva 'namam' on the forehead between the two eyes / eye brows, is narrowed. This gives a chance to the devotees to have 'Netra Darshanam' of Lord Venkateswara. On other days, the wide 'namam' covers almost half of His eyes. This seva is performed in Bangaru Vakili.

  12. Abhishekam

    On Fridays 'abhishekam' is perform to Mula Virat which starts with sacred water collected from Akasa Ganga. It is followed by abhishekam with milk, 'suddhodakam' (pure water), 'chandanam' (sandalwood paste) and aromatic materials like pachcha karpooram (camphor), saffron paste, civet oil and other such items kept in silver vessels.

    • Ticket price - Rs.750/- per person, Rs.300/- per person for performing abhishekam with Civet Vessel and Rs.150/- per person for performing abhishekam with Musk Vessel.

  13. Nijapada Darsanam

    On Fridays, pilgrims who book the tickets for Nijapada Darsanam are allowed to have a glimpse of the black stone feet / bare feet (Telugu word for feet is padalu) of Lord Venkateswara without any 'kavacham' i.e gold covering ornaments on the feet. It gives the devotees a kind of divine ecstasy / bliss to view the 'nija' (original / real) 'paadaalu' of the Lord.

  14. Vastralankara Seva

    After 'abhishekam' on Fridays, Lord Venkateswara is beautifully dressed up with 'pattu pitambaram' i.e pure silk garments.Devotees / tickets holders are allowed to see the beautifully decked Mula Virat. However, devotees who have high recommendation letter from V.I.Ps can book the ticket.

    • Ticket price - Rs.12,250/- per couple. Couple will be allowed for 'abhishekam'.
    • Prasadam / Bahumanam - 2 big laddus, 2 vadas, 1 dupatta, 1 blouse piece.
    • Day - Fridays
    • Reporting time - 3.00 a.m
    • Seva time - 3.30 a.m

Privileged Darshans

  • Newly married couple whose marriage is performed in TTD Kalyana Mandapams in Tirumala / Purohita Sangham, are allowed for darshan through 'supadam' entrance along with the parents of both sides. This darshan is free of cost and timings are 12.30 p.m to 5.00 p.m.
  • Parents of infants are allowed to go through 'supadam' entrance from 8.30 a.m to 10.30 a.m.
  • Donors, Defence Personnel and NRIs are allowed to go through 'supadam' entrance from 12.30 p.m to 5.30 p.m.

  • The seva / darshan timings and price of tickets are subject to change.

  • Tickets are sold depending on availability. Check ttdsevaonline.com for information on quota release and availability.
  • The time / date for the tickets booked cannot be pre or postponed or cancelled. No refund in case the pilgrims cannot avail the booked tickets.
  • Mobiles, video cams, cams and other electronic gadgets are strictly not allowed inside the temple premises.
  • Pilgrims should walk in the 'mada veedhulu' i.e the main street around the main temple with bare foot.
  • Visit the temple with traditional wear only. Western outfits are strictly not allowed.
  • Do not book tickets through middlemen / brokers.
  • Keep the temple premises and surroundings neat and clean by using dustbins for throwing wastes.
