An Evening at Point Pleasant Beach near New Jersey

Atlantic Ocean at Point Pleasant Beach
Come summer, it's time to visit a cool hill station in India or a stroll in the beach. One bright sunny morning after lunch, we drove to Point Pleasant Beach from Piscataway, New Jersey. It was just an hour's drive. As it was a weekend, the place was heavily crowded and with great difficulty we could find parking lot, of course, paid parking.

On entering the crowded beach, we straight away walked to the beach. Here we strolled for a while enjoying the sand, the small waves and the sea view. As I am used watching / enjoying the high tide waves in the Visakhapatnam beaches, so comparatively I felt the waves here are too small without that somewhat roaring sound. After spending for a while in the beach, we walked along the mile-long Jenkinson's board walk relishing popcorn and ice-cream. All the way there are too many attractions particularly for children to enjoy.

Ride for children
At the entrance only, there is Moby Dick - a thrilling ride. We didn't dare to have a ride in it but just stood there for a while and watched the riders shouting and screaming with excitement. There are other rides too like 'Swings and Wave Swinger', 'Broadwalk Bounce', Train for children to enjoy, Carousel, Airplane rides for children etc.

My 3 year old daughter (now she is 6 years) enjoyed some of these rides. By the time it has already become dark and the amusement park in the broad walk was illuminated with glittering lights. Well after all the enjoyment as always I got into a gift shop to get a souvenir. We were damn tired with all the long walks in the sun, so we entered into a cafeteria and had some fast food, I think a sub.

If you happen to be a South Indian, then you need to compromise with the food available here. It is always better to carry home-made food packs whenever you travel to such places. By the time we finished our night food, it was around 9 in the night and most of the visitors have returned. We hurriedly got into our car and drove back to home.

Anyway, it was a good experience going to a beach in the U.S. But somehow I didn't find it worth visiting as I am from a beautiful coastal city from Andhra Pradesh i.e Visakhapatnam which is rich in naturally beautiful beaches.
