Bird-watch at National Aviary in Pittsburgh, PA

National Bird Aviary is located on Pittsburgh's historic North side in the downtown area. There is limited parking here, however it is not too difficult to find a car parking. National Aviary remains open from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. It closes at 3 p.m on New Year's Eve and remains closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Entrance fee was $14 for adults and $13 for children between 2 to 12 and for senior citizens. It is free for children under 2 years. (Subject to change)

It is a wonderful place to spend time amidst the feathered friends with their melodious chirps and sounds all around. There are 500 + birds in this place where visitors can find some rare winged ones too.
At the entrance there is a colorful caged macaw. From here visitors can walk to the Penguin point. This is one of the best places where children enjoy the most watching the pretty penguins while parents sit and watch their little ones enjoying. There are domed bubbles that pop up in the middle of the exhibit where from visitors can see the penguins.
From here visitors can then walk to Tropical Rainforest exhibit which is yet another most enjoyable one with lots of colorful birds to watch in free surroundings.
Here one can see beautiful macaw and beautiful hyacinth macaw in blue color.
And the Victorian crown pigeon walking all the way along with the visitors.

At this exhibit, the professional aviary bird feeder gives the kids / children a chance to feed their little feathered friends. At this place one can see pretty good number of enthusiastic kids proactively going to feed the birds. There is scheduled time for bird feeding and there is enough place for sitting and hanging out till it's time for bird feeding.

After all the fun and enjoyment of feeding the birds, the visitors disperse and move around to other exhibits of the aviary.

After all the walking and watching in the aviary visitors sit at the cafeteria inside the aviary for having refreshments.

As visitors walk around from one exhibit to the other, they don't even know how fast the time passes in the National Aviary. It's a place worth visiting, a place very much different from the usual zoos or aquariums. A must-see place in Pittsburgh.
