Jagannath Temple at Road No.12, Banjara Hills in Hyderabad

If you happen to visit the temple for the first time, you will be marveled to see the architectural magnificence of the temple.

Lord Jagannath temple which located at Road N0. 12, Banjara Hills in Hyderabad is recently constructed by the Kalinga Cultural Trust / Odiya Community of Hyderabad. The temple resembles the Jagannath temple of Puri in Odisha. Artisans from Odisha have showed their architectural excellence by carving / sculpting beautiful structures on the temple walls depicting various Hindu mythological scenes and characters which include stories of Lord Krishna,
The 'shikhar' or main tower of the temple measures 75 feet tall and is almost a replica of the Jagannath temple of Puri and is constructed with red sand stone brought from Odisha. The temple complex built in a vast / spacious area has other small temples of Lord Ganesha, Kashi Vishwanath i.e Lord Shiva, Shri Hanuman, Vimala Devi,Lakshmi Maa / Lakshmi Devi and Navagraha.

Daily the temple opens at 6 a.m and closes at 11 a.m and again opens at 5 p.m in the evening and closes at 9 p.m. Evening around 6.00 - 6.30 during summer and 5-5.30 during winter is the best time to visit the temple. You can spend some time in the temple sitting and meditating which gives you peace of mind and also is rejuvenating. You can watch the evening 'Aarti' at 7 p.m which elevates your spirits of spirituality. You feel lost yourself on hearing the rhythmic beats on the Indian style of gongs. This is worth watching. After 'aarti' you need to go in single line to have the darshan of the Lord and then take His teertha and prasad.

You can also purchase 'prasad' at the specified counter. Generally, you get 'Khaja' - a special crispy sweet made of maida and sugar syrup - which is believed to be most dear to Lord Jagannath and Gaja (pronounced as goja in Odiya) another sweet prasad. These two are really too tasty.

There is much of parking lot in front of the temple, so you can leave all your worries aside and spend some time in communion with the Lord for a healthy and happy living. You can also have some clicks outside the main sanctum sanctoram.

Many important religious festivals are celebrated in the temple which mainly include Ratha Yatra / Car Festival, Sri Krishna Janmastami, Dola Purnima etc.

Lord Jagannath temple in Banjara Hills is worth a visit and in fact is one of the must-see places in Hyderabad.
