A Day with the wild at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, PA

Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, PA is a good place to visit with family and kids. The zoo is located at 1661, Harding Blvd in Norristown, PA. It's around 30 minutes drive from King of Prussia mall.

It's a cool and serene place which is less crowded even on weekends. There are tall shaded trees and spacious free parking lot. Though you can buy entrance tickets online, it is not necessary as you need not stand in long lines even on weekends. I think we paid around $10 (subject to change) and entered into the park zoo which was cool with tall trees all around.

Travel Information

The zoo closes by 5 p.m and entry into the park is closed by 4.30 p.m. It remains closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas day, New Year's Eve and New Year's day.
Totem at the entrance
There is a tall totem at the entrance. Amidst the greenery at the entrance, there stood the bald eagle.

The area of the park is small and one can easily walk around along with kids in strollers. Children enjoy a lot and get excited on seeing the wild animals, birds, butterflies, reindeer moving around in wilderness. Without a zoo map in hand, you can walk all around in the ups and downs, taking halt at each place and capturing the animals in your cam all through.
Black panther and striped tiger
During our visit to this place, we felt strange on seeing a small fight between the two big cats - the black panther and the striped tiger. Few visitors also witness the fight.
And there the lioness having an afternoon relax on the rocks. May be wondering how crazy these humans are.
Well, these flamingos are my daughter's favorite thing. We slowly along the ups and downs of the park zoo and enjoyed the wild in cool atmosphere.
And there the lovely colorful macaws. My daughter could stop her excitement on seeing these colorful friendly birds. We spent some time here with the colorful wild and then walked down towards the exit as it was going to be close time.

As we walked towards the exit, we could see huge reindeer relaxing in the wild.
There are few attractions for kids in the zoo like Caterpillar Train ride, Carousal ride, pony rides and animal feeding. But we didn't visit these attractions due to time constraint. There is even children's play zone where children can enjoy while parents can relax after the long tiresome walks.

It was wonderful experience spending the afternoon amidst the wild in a cool and less crowded place.

As always, I entered into the gift shop and made small purchase. Just bought a set of wild animals for my daughter which she treasured.

Indians in and around Philly, you are sure to enjoy this quite place with your family. Your children too would love to be in the wild for a while.
