A Day with the wild at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, PA

Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, PA is a good place to visit with family and kids. The zoo is located at 1661, Harding Blvd in Norristown, PA. It's around 30 minutes drive from King of Prussia mall.

It's a cool and serene place which is less crowded even on weekends. There are tall shaded trees and spacious free parking lot. Though tickets can be booked online, it is been purchased at the counter also as there won't be long queue lines even on weekends.

The park remains open from 10 a.m to 4 p.m on all the 7 days of a week. Visitors are not allowed to enter inside the park after 3.30 p.m. It is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Entry ticket price is nearly $10 (subject to change) and free entry only for babies up to 2 years old. It is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas day, New Year's Eve and New Year's day.
Totem at the entrance
There is lot of greenery with tall trees inside the park. At the entrance there is a tall totem. Amidst the greenery at the entrance, there stood the bald eagle.

The area of the park is small and one can easily walk around along with kids in strollers. Children enjoy a lot and get excited on seeing the wild animals, birds, butterflies, reindeer moving around in wilderness. Visitors can move around without a zoo map in hand.
Black panther and striped tiger
There are amphibians, aviary i.e. birds, fish, mammals and reptiles in the zoo. There is also a black panther which is quite ferocious.
Lioness
Children enjoy watching the flamingos and the brightly colored macaws.

There are some rides as well for the kids to enjoy like the Caterpillar Train ride, Carousal ride and pony rides.
Macaws 
Besides the wild animals in the park, visitors can enjoy watching special attractions by purchasing tickets which is nearly $4 (subject to change) for non-members of the zoo. The attractions include bison feeding, giraffe feeding, bird feeding, barn feeding, face painting etc.
Reindeer
This is a wonderful place for Indians in and around Philly who want to go for Vanabhojanam in the auspicious Hindu month of Kartikam. They are sure to enjoy the place mainly due to calmness and greenery all around. While children enjoy watching the wild life parents / elders can have a relaxing time.
